Hi Alexa;

I drove by Hannam supermarket a couple of times this week and haven't seen him. They used to be seasonal. I guess Taiyaki didn't sell in the summer! I'll keep an eye out for him. My wife tells me there's Taiyaki in the Korean grocery across North Road as well. I haven't checked yet.

Hello,

I doubt you still check this entry for comments roughly one year after it being posted, so I hope you receive e-mail notifications regarding your comments!

At any rate: I live in Vancouver and I have been on many a fruitless search for Taiyaki. This evening I took the bus to Yaohan, where I found a Taiyaki stand in front of the Osaka Supermarket ... alas, it was abandoned.

I will seek out that small stand in Burnaby which you speak of, but I would first like to ask whether you can confirm that it still exists? And if not, have you been able to find any further places selling Taiyaki?

Thank You very much in advance!

Regards,
Alexa K. (who is enjoying this weather while it lasts!)

Rob,
Great job implementing GA in LABVIEW. Is it possible to save in a previous version 7.0? I am working on a biologically inspired adaptive interface and I am considering GA/fuzzy logic.
Regards,
Emmanuel

Rob,

I am interested in learning more about your work. I work at National Instruments and currently work on bioinformatics applications. We could show you a demo (over the web) that we are developing and would like to get your feedback.

Regards,
Hall T. Martin

[...] I’ve been working on my simple genetic algorithm in LabVIEW and struggling with memory. This was caused by a poor implementation of roulette wheel selection. I essentially created a very large array and randomly picked two parents from this array. The array contained multiple entries of each chromosome that was determined by it’s fitness score. This worked well enough for small populations and small fitness scores, but once things got big… [...]

[...] Two weeks ago, I posted a simple genetic algorithm in LabVIEW. Since then, I’ve found a few bugs and yet more memory problems. In LabVIEW 8, the original ran fine. In LabVIEW 7.1, it would crash with large initial populations. I’ve managed to eliminate the memory problems by moving items to a subVI again. This is the updated version. I also want to say thanks to IlliGAL Blogging for sending some traffic my way. They run an interesting blog covering the latest news in genetic algorithms code genetic labview programming [...]
