This is project 10 from Drawing for Dummies.

I’m continuing the progress on Chapter 10′s project. I’ve now put in the basic shading and turned this into a thumbnail sketch.

A thumbnail sketch of the lobster trap.

Books mentioned in this post:

Continuing work on my Tiger Moth I’ve assembled the horizontal and vertical stabilizers.

Here’s the horizontal stabilizer after cutting the elevators free.

Horizontal stabilizer cut apart.

Again, paper hinges are used to hold the elevators to the stabilizer. These were a little awkward to install. I did a much better job with the hinges this time. I made sure the slots were deep enough to put the hinges in without bending them.

And here’s the rudder cut apart from the vertical stabilizer.

Newsweek is running an article by Donald M. Berwick, M.D. titled Keys to Safer Hospitals. This article scares the hell out of me!

We have identified six basic measures that could save as many as 100,000 lives a year if even 2,000 hospitals adopted them.

100,000 preventable deaths per year in American hospitals? Is he serious?!? That’s just insane! What about in Canada? I wonder if the numbers are similar.
