This is my fourth drawing from Drawing for Dummies.

I’m much more interested in this project. It’s not the subject that created so much interest, but the techniques. How to add highlights and shadow to suggest a 3-dimensional object. The shading will take more practice (doesn’t everything). I’m not as good at gradients with the pencil as I’d like to be. I’m still fairly happy with the results as I can definitely see the shape of the sphere.

Yesterday I listened to an interview with Joel Spolsky on Venture Voice. In this interview he discusses his time at Microsoft, the history of FogCreek Software and his ideas on what’s wrong with Venture Capital.

Mark Miller is on dotNetRocks today. He talks about component based architecture a little and then gets into graphics programming and the graphical display of information. I enjoy listening to Mark Miller. He’s very entertaining and has some good topics.

I always find some interesting ideas on dotNetRocks even if I don’t develop on .Net.
