Japanese internment in Canada

Today is remembrance day. Poppies are everywhere. Monuments are being dedicated and children are watching parades. Politicians are talking about heroes and great deeds.
While you’re thinking about how we were bringing justice and safety to the world, take a minute to learn about the dirty side of Canada. 26000 people were taken from their homes and put into work camps. Their belongings were confiscated and later sold to pay for their internment.
While you’re taking a minute to remember all the good deeds done by Canadians today, remember all the stupid deeds caused by fear and racism.
“Lest we forget.”
